Q&A with Jason Clements

From serving in the parachute regiment to leading one of the largest and most successful teams within Matchtech, it’s been an incredible journey for our Operations Director Jason Clements.

We caught up with him to hear more from Jason…

What’s your role at Matchtech?

 ‘’I’m currently the Operations Director for Energy & Infrastructure managing over 50 specialist Recruitment & Delivery consultants across 5 key vertical markets. Essentially my role is to make sure that E&I Whiteley deliver upon a financial budget which is set annually. Along with this I am responsible for managing the day-to-day operational running of the division including, full P&L responsibility, defining and managing our Client portfolio which includes existing and new business clients, overseeing the Training and development and career progression of all staff and general welfare. Creating a High performance, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and live up to their potential.‘’

What was your career before joining recruitment?

‘’I joined the Parachute Regiment at 16 years old straight from school, where I served for just over 5 years. Upon leaving the Armed Forces I worked as a Telesales Executive before beginning a career in recruitment.‘’

What initially attracted you to a career in Recruitment?

‘’Having spent just over a year in Telesales I really wanted to be able to meet people face to face as well as being able to talk to people over the phone. Recruitment gives you the ability to do that. I also really like the fact that you have the ability to determine what your payslip looks like on a monthly basis, the harder you work the more money you can earn.‘’

What can military leavers expect from a career at GATTACA/Matchtech?

‘’The military is like one big family, at Matchtech and Gattaca it is very similar, for anyone transitioning from the Armed forces with is one of the largest organisations in the UK I believe this is key.‘’

 ‘’The support, training, and development is excellent, giving people taking their 1st step into recruitment the best chance of being successful. While Gattaca is a PLC we have been able to maintain a privately owned culture and feel.‘’

What’s your biggest advice to someone considering a career in Recruitment?

‘’If you’re looking for a role where you are rewarded for hard work, what you put in is what you get out then recruitment will offer you this. The impact you will have is also extremely rewarding whether this placing a candidate in their dream job, or finding a client a key member of staff. You have the ability to shape peoples careers, and also help some of the UK largest engineering companies find the talent of the future.‘’
