Driving through a challenging year with a charity close to our hearts

charity golf event

On Wednesday 11th July, Matchtech, part of the Gattaca group of companies, were the proud main sponsors of Friends of PICU's Annual Golf Day.

In total the day managed to raise over £10,000 for Friends of PICU, the charity supporting Southampton General Hospital's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Friends of PICU are one of the group's chosen charities, so we were delighted to be able to support them in raising this money which will go towards helping to support the vital provision of the essential equipment and services used by the unit.

It is a charity local to our headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire and is close to the hearts of all of our staff. We’re proud to have supported the charity for many years, which delivers such crucial equipment and support at the times when ill children and their families need it the most.

Kerry Houghton, Operations Manager at Friends of PICU wrote the following after the event:

"I am writing on behalf of everyone at Friends of PICU, and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, to thank you so very much for all your help, support and sponsorship of our Annual Golf Day held on 11th July 2021.

Despite the day taking a slightly different format once again this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was a huge success and we received so much positive feedback from the teams joining us on the day...

...I am delighted to confirm that, after event costs, the day raised an absolutely incredible £10,228.50. This is a truly wonderful amount of money that really will make such a difference to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. It has continued to be a challenging year for the charity with all events cancelled, so this money is crucial in helping us in our work to support the unit.

It is through such kindness given by you and Matchtech that we make a real difference. I send from myself, our Trustees, Patrons and all the families that have benefited from your continued support our heartfelt thanks."
