Delivering highly-skilled talent in a short-skilled market

The challenge

A world-leading group manufacturer of premium automobiles required ongoing temporary workforce support to underpin many high profile projects and business as usual activity. Their procurement and HR departments were particularly interested in controlling the costs and visibility of their contract workforce across their group whilst the hiring community required a focus on providing the best talent that the market had to offer. They were looking for a partner to support them in proactively blending these priorities.

It’s often a challenge to find highly-skilled people in skill short-markets, and within the automotive industry we are adept at offering solutions to this problem. Finding a solution for this problem would require us to blend a number of resourcing techniques to fulfil our client’s requirements.

The solution

Our team assessed the current workforce and ascertained what was needed to move forward. Ashton Church, Client Relationship Manager at Gattaca, took on the responsibility of implementing the solution and developing it from there on.

Three specialist account managers were embedded on-site across the six UK locations for the company’s seven brands. By providing our client with on-site support, we were able to ensure that there was clarity within the hiring community, allowing for a seamless and effective two-way transfer of best-practice knowledge.

Working in collaboration, the on-site account managers began to apply this knowledge by updating the way the client handled their talent, creating a more robust, streamlined approach towards their contract workforce reporting and planning. This involved a monthly report from each site to ensure clarity on their current contract workforce, maintenance of their systems, plus the merging of invoicing by channelling the invoices of all external suppliers through Gattaca.

Our specialist supply chain was able to deliver the niche talent our client needed and also worked with them to ensure that the candidate experience was consistently high quality, encouraging not only the attraction but also the retention of highly skilled talent.

The results

Since our partnership with the world-leading group of premium automobiles began, we have been able to:

  • Make more than 200 placements in the first year, to support a 24% growth in the contractor workforce
