Matthew Wragg, Group Business Development Director
Since joining Gattaca I’ve seen it grow from a 50-person business into a global, AIM-listed group with over 800 staff. In that time a constant has been my passion to understand how my clients operate and always looking for methods to solve their challenges. 15 years on and I'm proud to be an advisory board member to Southampton Electronics and Computer System faculty, on the CBI council for the South East and I also sit on Gattaca's management board.
My role is to look at how Gattaca can continue to advance our offerings to our clients, making sure we are challenging ourselves and our clients to improve. I’ve seen us grow from a local traditional recruitment business to a global consultancy business, that focuses on solving issues for clients within the engineering and technology sectors, be that via our traditional service of recruitment or via our solutions offerings. These offerings are around employer branding, human capital technology solutions, supply chain management, outsourcing or delivery and/or management of outcome-based subcontracting programmes.
As an industry we face new challenges every day and I believe in a collaborative approach to resolving these. Building relationships and seeing visible positive changes within other businesses as a result of our collaboration gives me great satisfaction, whether it’s enhanced efficiency, cost savings or a happier and more productive workforce. I love advising through my favourite client past time of ‘collaborative white board sessions’. More recently I have been formalising collaboration through our desire to drive ISO44001 methodology with our client relationships, helping us to become a competitive advantage to our clients.
My brain struggles to switch off from challenges, so I have resorted to marathon running to continue that pursuit to push my own limits and I only have Tokyo and Chicago on the majors list left to do!
