100 Gattaca runners take on JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge 2017

For the fifth consecutive year, our UK teams ran in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in Battersea Park, London, last Thursday evening.

Spirits were high amongst the runners on a warm night in the capital. Our 100 Gattaca runners (the company’s biggest ever turn-out for the run) got together for a pre-race photo with everyone sporting their new Gattaca race vests.

With temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius as the race began, finishing the 5.6km run was going to be an achievement in itself. Luckily, all our runners made the finish line with some tough competition for the fastest amongst the team. London’s Paul Webb took home the gold finishing the course in an impressive 24min 34sec, pipping Whiteley’s Louis Cross and his London colleague James Swift, who both came in just two seconds behind.

There were plenty of friendly competitions between the team throughout the day, spurring each other on through the heat to finish the race in good time. The amazing volunteers, who gave up their time to make sure the event ran smoothly, were on hand to take the obligatory post-race photos.

What better thing to do after a run than head to the pub?

With that in mind, the team headed to The Magic Garden pub in Battersea for a post-run BBQ and some hard-earned drinks. The atmosphere was great, as everyone indulged, discussed run times and socialised with people across different teams and offices.

After another successful event, it is safe to say that the JP Morgan Challenge has become a staple part of the social and CSR calendar!
