Gattaca Appoints New Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Annabel Honour

Gattaca PLC announced today (4 April, 2024) the appointment of Annabel Honour (she/her) as Head of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion & Client Partner. Annabel moves to the role from an internal position at Gattaca Solutions as Client Partner, after a transformative year of ED&I work with our clients.

Can you tell us a bit about you and your journey at Gattaca?

Yes, so I'm Bells and I have been with Gattaca for 15 years actually!  And I think over the time that I've been at Gattaca I’ve done quite a lot of different roles. I have spent six years of my recruitment career recruiting directly into STEM markets, which I did really enjoy. So, it's nice to have that background to really understand what we're trying to achieve as a business and what we're trying to achieve for our clients. Stepping into this new role absolutely feeds my passion for positive change and after the last year of supporting our clients on this journey I am thrilled to be able to continue that work and to lead on this for my colleagues at Gattaca.

Can you tell us a bit about what drives your dedication to ED&I?

There's a few different things, I think with anything, a lot of it will come from your own lived experiences and your own circumstances. So, I am a part time working mum of two and I've been working part time at Gattaca for about 8 years. I think being an underrepresented group, if you like, particularly within STEM and recruitment, which tends to be fairly male dominated - forgive the generalisation, but at the moment, it is true - I think that that lived experience of facing adversity and wanting to make sure that we breakdown those barriers not just for people like me, but for all of our candidates, clients, and colleagues is what drives me.

But it is a passion as well for me - I also feel quite strongly about the fact that we are all responsible for driving equity, diversity and inclusion on a wider scale, and we have that extra responsibility to drive that within the companies & candidates that we support with recruitment and partnership services.

What are you most excited for in your role as Head of ED&I?

This really is my dream job as it’s so fulfilling for me personally being able to lead on this change for us as a business, but also our clients and candidate communities that we serve.

I think I am most excited about the opportunity this role presents to be a driving force for positive change and the chance to collaborate with our clients on their own journeys – that really feels like a privilege. This role is very unique in the sense that we are not just doing the work for our own business, but for our client’s workforces also.

I love working with different people from different walks of life, businesses and across STEM industries so this role absolutely allows me to do this and continually enhance my learning.

Of her appointment, Claire Cross (Chief People Officer) said:

“I am delighted to have Annabel join the People team as our new Head of ED&I. Her appointment underscores our unwavering commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, which remain of paramount importance to us and the communities we serve.

Knowing the personal importance of ED&I to Bell's along with the deep relationships she has within Gattaca and with many of our clients, I have no doubt that with her support, we will continue to make strides in creating a more inclusive environment for our colleagues, better serve our clients, and positively impact our candidates.”
